In
biogas production plants, for example, from cattle, we have the
production of a digestate rich in solids coming out of the secondary
digester. A two-phase decanter can separate solids from water. Since
the solid part is often reused in agriculture, the use of chemical
additives is not recommended, although this sometimes results in a
dark-colored sludge due to some molecules that escape into the
liquid.
