Nowadays,
algae are increasingly produced for various uses: food and non-food.
Algae
are food for humans, dietary supplements, and animal feed such as
fish, and there is a growing demand for treatment from small scale
(artisanal) to industrial production.
The
centrifuge, with its centrifugal force, is capable of separating
algae cells (or the algae themselves) from the water, obtaining
reusable water and a dry product ready for subsequent processing
stages.
The
centrifugal separator can continuously separate the algae or retain
the algae inside for manual recovery by the operator without product
loss.
In
practice, self-cleaning vertical tubular disc centrifuges or
discontinuous chamber centrifuges are usable for this product, and
only the experience of the products can tell you which is most
suitable for your process.
A
gentle acceleration is recommended not to damage the algae cells
themselves.
The
algae concentrate is creamy (algae and water) and ready for the next
processing stage.
Often,
the drying stage of the algae is the final one.
